We showed up to The Meadows in Christiansburg for the Captains Choice Tournament yesterday with high hopes. We had our four players picked out and even had an "A" golfer to carry us to victory. Myself and the other two golfers on the team carry about the same handicap which is around 18 so we thought we could contribute a shot every once in a while when our "A" golfer needed a little help. After we finished the front 9 I believe we were only 3 under and we were struggling to say the least. We just could not get into a flow and never really had any lucky bounces or rolls. Come to find out one of our "C" golfers hung out with our "A" golfer the night before and lets just say they stayed up way to late which probably brought our "A" golfer down to a "B" at best. Lesson learned for next time we will not let them hang out the night before unless we are playing against them. We had a downhill putt around 5 feet to save par on #18 but between the four of us we just could not find the bottom of the cup netting our only bogey of the day. We ended up shooting a 65 putting us at 5 under for the day with the winning team shooting I believe a 56.
When we arrived back to the clubhouse after our second round we found out that three of us from our group had actually won free greens fees from the morning tournament. I won a set of 4 green fees to Hunting Hills in Roanoke which I have never played so that should be fun. The other two green fees won in our group were to Wytheville GC and The Meadows.
These are just a couple shots I snapped during our round today and hopefully we will be able to get back out on the course again soon and play in another tourney and actually try to put a better score together.
